When the inside fills

with scarlet

and the outside drowns

in ink

The broad smile

slips from the face

atop broad shoulders

When the brightest

is covered in gloom

and the twinkling

fails to shine

The lighted windows

have shades drawn

darkening the house

When the wall hits

with a fierce blow

and breath struggled

to fill lungs

Days dissolved into

wilted, hazy nights

a collapsed frame
